Oklahoma City, Okla. (KOKH) — Tens of thousands of Oklahomans impacted by the pandemic are still waiting for unemployment benefits.

The state is working on an ambitious plan to process most of them by the end of next week, but many have been turning to their local lawmakers for help getting their claims through.

"I think it’s about 61 days now that I’ve been applying, so almost nine weeks," said Wyndi Brown-Fietkau.

Two months have gone by since Brown-Fietkau became eligible for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance.
